It’s extremely rewarding to be an intern with Enterprise. The level of exposure available to the right candidate is invaluable and the 12 months spent with this organisation are renowned for leading to a long, fulfilling career. Interns are able to work independently and have the opportunity to take control of their future. This quality alone is hard to come by in other internships.
Best of all, Enterprise welcomes candidates who bring new ideas to the table – and the Internal Communications Internship I’m enrolled on provides a fantastic platform to achieve this.
Internal Communications Intern? What does that even mean?
As the Internal Communications Intern for the European Sales Team, I am primarily responsible for providing dedicated support to the UK and European Sales Team based at the European Corporate Head Office in Egham.
The role encompasses a range of functions; assisting with new business opportunities, creating internal and external presentations, bespoke proposals and providing first-hand support for our European teams based in France, Germany and Spain.
With the opportunity to do and achieve even more outside of your role, the internship is a multitasker’s dream. Not only am I getting my teeth into creating online content for Enterprise’s international intranet, I’m also designing bespoke sales materials for our major external customers.
Whether it’s developing the ability to think strategically, make decisions independently, propose innovative solutions or adapt quickly to changing circumstances, the experience I’m gaining here is invaluable.
What’s the internship actually like?
No two days are the same. There are always so many exciting projects in the pipeline. I try my best to work closely with the team, getting involved in as many different ventures as possible. From supporting the UK and European Sales Teams with RFP’s, presentations and proposals to engaging with the Marketing Team on the Enterprise Car Club rebrand – this role offers so many opportunities for development.
Every tender we work on comes with its own specific requirements and the Sales Support Team has to synthesise an appropriate approach not only on behalf of the EU Sales Team but on some occasions, on behalf of Enterprise Holdings too. It’s a huge responsibility – but one that I relish.
What other stuff do you get up to?
Alongside my day-to-day role, I’m heavily involved with EnterPRIDE: Enterprise’s LGBT Network. It gives me the opportunity to network with formidable figures in the industry, like Exxon Mobil and Virgin Media, and is a great platform for discussion and collaboration on inspiring further inclusivity in the workplace.
EnterPRIDE promotes the importance of honest conversations and is dedicated to encouraging workplaces to be inclusive of LGBT employees, promoting open networks for LGBT professionals to be their authentic selves. In addition to all the event planning, creativity and communications management, the best part of the role is bringing in the fresh ideas that ensure Enterprise continues to be presented as a diverse and inclusive company on every level.
Why did you join Enterprise?
I chose to work for Enterprise because of the great culture, endless opportunities for development and friendly working environment. Now I’m here, all of these factors are surpassing my expectations. I have been able to build relationships with not only my peers in my team but also the wider Enterprise family, at every level.
From fellow Interns to AVP’s, everyone is welcoming and friendly. Ultimately, it’s the people here who make Enterprise such a fantastic place to work.
