After graduating from a British music conservatoire, I was put in the same position as most graduates, trying to find my feet in the world of work. Coming from a very musical background, I didn’t realise what skills I could utilise in other industries outside of Music.
As Enterprise is recognised as being one of the best graduate employers, I applied to become a Management Trainee. The employment process was very clear, and the job role was explained in depth throughout, which made my decision to choose a career in Management even easier.
I initially thought that the job role would require business experience or a business-related degree, but during my time at Enterprise I have been able to realise my full potential. Although my degree involved studying something very different from other applicants, I haven’t felt discouraged in any way or felt that I have missed out by not having business experience.
With Enterprise I have been able to develop the skills I have acquired as a musician, such as communication, people management and organisation, and I’ve been encouraged to apply them in this industry.
Being a Management Trainee, you learn everything about the business in a very practical way at a very comfortable pace. Although you are thrown in at the deep end, which can be a shock, you very quickly find your feet and before you know it, you become an important part of the team within a branch.
Use the skills you’ve learned on a non-business degree to start a career with Enterprise.
