Experts have again recognised Enterprise for its efforts to work towards gender equality.
The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established listing of employers striving for gender equality in the workplace. Run by the charity Business in the Community – The Prince’s Responsible Business Network – for more than a decade, the incredibly competitive process identifies companies that make gender equality part of their business strategy and are trying to bring it to life at all levels of the organisation.
Applicants are assessed on a range of areas, including their approach to recruitment, family-friendly policies and how they have championed gender equality in the context of the pandemic.
Leigh Lafever-Ayer, HR Director at Enterprise, said: “I love it when women tell me that they were drawn to Enterprise because we are on The Times Top 50 Employers for Women list. It gives me great pleasure that Enterprise has today been named on this list for the 16th consecutive year.
When I was interviewing at Enterprise 30 years ago, I asked about the company’s commitment to women’s progress. From there, I knew I was joining a business with strong values and a firm commitment to diversity. Anything was possible and the two CEOs who have been appointed during my time here have both been women.
I am so proud of our longevity in The Times Top 50. It’s a rewarding accomplishment because I know how much work it has taken. We keep listening to our employees, challenging each other and evolving. We are making improvements year-on-year, and we still have further to go.
We pay attention to the issues of gender, how they intersect with other diversity strands and the different experiences of everyone at Enterprise. We mentor, sponsor, and seek out people who bring unique perspectives to our business.
Being part of a company that places such a strong emphasis on gender equality is incredibly fulfilling. From the work being done by our Women in Leadership Committee, Enterprising Women, Lean In circles and mentoring programmes, to our gender diversity platform Drive, there is a lot to be proud of and I would like to thank all those who work so hard to make a difference.”
Charlotte Woodworth, Gender Equality Director at Business in the Community, said: “COVID-19 has shone a light on how far we have to go on gender equality: by having to pick up things like the bulk of extra caring responsibilities, women have been disproportionately affected by lockdown.
We congratulate the many employers who have maintained their efforts towards gender equality at this time, often introducing innovative policies to support their workforce during this period. This year’s application process for The Times Top 50 Employers for Women was the most competitive one we have seen in five years. Employers like Enterprise haven’t forgotten women at work and they are committed to making gender inequality a thing of the past.”
