For the fifth consecutive year, Enterprise has been included in the Social Mobility Foundation’s (SMF) annual Employer Index.
The Social Mobility Employer Index, launched in 2017, has grown into the leading authority on employer-led social mobility. It assesses and ranks UK employers on the actions they take to ensure they are open to talent from all social backgrounds.
From an open-minded recruitment process, through innovative development and progression initiatives, to broader community activities and overall advocacy of social mobility issues our commitment to social advancement was recognised and saw us rank at #10 out of 203 participating employers.
At Enterprise we live these values every day. We believe that where you start in life shouldn’t define your future success. Social Mobility benefits us all. It ensures our workforce is inclusive of all backgrounds and cultures and helps create a dynamic and vibrant workplace where people can build their careers.
Sarah Atkinson, CEO of the Social Mobility Foundation, said: “Congratulations to all the businesses who submitted this year – especially the 38 firms who have participated in all five years of the Index. It is encouraging that the extremely challenging circumstances of the pandemic has not deterred these firms from prioritising social mobility. It is right that they have done so. Government cannot go it alone when levelling up; indeed, the Index shows businesses and organisations are leading the way instead. Opportunity creation for the next generation, especially those from less well-off backgrounds, must be prioritised in the years ahead. As ever, we stand ready to support employers of all sizes in their social mobility journey.”
This recognition shows that Enterprise really is committed to being an inclusive place to work, which judges people only on their talent and their willingness to do well in the company. This way of thinking can be traced back to our Founding Values, and have been part of the Enterprise way since we were founded in 1957.
