1. Costs
One of the main advantages of doing a year-long internship is that you’ll get paid to do it. If you’ve always wanted to go abroad but also want to do a placement year, then it is possible to combine them both.
There are advantages to both a placement year and a gap year, but employers are generally always going to prefer on the job experience.
