Being part of the Enterprise Rent-a-Car Internship enabled me to experience first-hand what running a business was like. From day one I was given my own responsibilities, from managing profits to working with customers. The management team was extremely supportive and gave me the opportunity to make my mark on the branch, giving me a real sense of satisfaction and belonging.
During the 90 days I spent as an Enterprise Rent-A-Car intern, I learnt more about myself than I did during my first year of university!
There were a lot of great things about the internship at Enterprise, but here are my top five:
1. The ability to learn on the job and think on your feet
Being part of the branch team means that you learn as you go along, and for me this was a great way to pick up new skills.
2. Insight into every aspect of business
Unlike many internships or placements, at Enterprise you are exposed to every aspect of running a business, from customer service, to marketing, to finance and logistics.
3. Everyone starts from the bottom and climbs the ladder due to a promote-from-within culture
No matter who you come into contact with, everyone has experienced the same difficulties as you and therefore all your colleagues are understanding, patient and willing to lend a helping hand.
No two days in a branch are ever the same. You meet different customers, manage different corporate accounts and encounter different problems that need to be solved.
5. Path for Progression/Personal Development and Reward
At Enterprise there is a large emphasis on your own personal goals, achievements and development. From day one you are made aware of what is needed in order to progress to the next level. One-on-one meetings with your manager allow you to work through your training folder and build up your knowledge. Area and branch competitions allow financial bonuses for those that are succeeding, so you really feel like you’re being rewarded for your hard work.
Enterprise offers an experience like no other. During our internships, students gain hands-on experience from the word go, learning about sales, marketing, customer service, business management and administrative support.
