My Enterprise internship? The best experience of my life!

I’ve never felt so much like a novice as I did the day I logged onto RateMyPlacement to start looking for my internship.  The thought filled me with dread, but quite quickly Enterprise Rent-A-Car flashed up on my screen. Intrigued at the thought of working for a car rental company, I followed the link.

As a second-year fully immersed in my little student life bubble, I was never quite sure which avenue I wanted to take. Many of my friends knew they wanted to go into marketing or accounting but no, not me I wanted to play the world at its own game, variety is the spice of life and I wanted something that would keep me on my toes. Enterprise definitely seemed to offer that, so I clicked on their website and applied for the role.

As I progressed through the application stages, it became clear that Enterprise wasn’t going to be your typical internship. The thought of being able to gain skills in so many different areas customer service, sales, marketing, fleet management filled me with excitement.

Nine months in, there is never a dull moment working for Enterprise, there’s so much more to car rental than people first realise. One of my favourite things is the people I work with. From the start, I really enjoyed how Enterprise wanted to get to know me as a person.

From the day I started, I was welcomed with open arms, I felt as though I’d entered this one big happy family. I really liked the idea that everyone who works here once upon a time started their career as a graduate and have worked their way up within the company. Take Ben Lawson for example: in 15 years at the company, he’s gone from Graduate Management Trainee to being Enterprise’s Assistant Vice President of Europe. It’s clear that from the word go that Enterprise wants each and every employee to succeed, even as an Intern I have always felt that my managers treated me the same as everybody else and wanted to succeed in everything that I do.

With Enterprise I feel the opportunities are endless, it’s all about personal development and what you want out of life as a person.  I’ve learnt so many skills that I wouldn’t have even had the opportunity to learn if I hadn’t done this internship. There’s only one thing I’d recommend -be open and willing to learn, with that in mind Enterprise will take you on a brilliant journey.

It’s been the best experience of my 20 years so far and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone seeking an internship who loves a challenge and isn’t afraid of hard work. After graduation I would love to come back, I’ve learnt so much but part of me feels there’s oh so much more to learn!!

If you’re yet to find your dream internship don’t forget that Enterprise still has internships available as well as graduate jobs in your area.
