At Enterprise we always strive to lead the way in having an accessible and inclusive recruitment process, we are committed to making our opportunities available to all and want to break down any barriers to reaching talented individuals. The COVID-19 pandemic has allowed us to review our recruitment process and look at how we could maintain the level of assessment without compromising our candidates, or employees’ safety. The result is a really exciting shake-up which has seen us reduce our process from 5 stages to 3. This allows our candidates the chance to gain employment with us much quicker than before, sometimes within just a week or two of applying! One of the stages we have removed is our assessment centre as we felt our in-branch interview could be robust enough to assess what was needed, and we love the fact our candidates don’t have to worry about this stage any more.
Let’s find out what the new structure looks like:
To apply for our placement or graduate management training programmes we do not require a minimum grade or ask for a specific subject studied, in fact, to take your first step in our application process, all you need to do is click ‘apply’, create your profile on our online system and answer a few short questions – that’s it! One of our recruitment team will then get in touch to learn more about you and find out if you have what we’re looking for. If successful, you’ll be asked to fill out an application form. Don’t worry, while this might sound like a daunting task, it won’t take long – less than 30 minutes. We also have lots of advice for you on how to avoid most common mistakes when filling out application forms.
We hire based on competencies and employers are continuously looking for aspects in an application that will help set candidates apart from the competition. You will need to be sure to share both your hard and soft skills on your application. Whilst at university you might consider becoming involved in a university club or society, and in particular holding a position of responsibility on the committee, as this will really highlight you as a strong candidate. Clubs and societies can help to promote qualities that can be translated into a business environment, for example, sports clubs might assist in the development of leadership and teamwork. Whereas being a member of the Law society could develop public speaking skills, and the ability to think on your feet; stimulating that inner confidence.
Then it’s a video interview. This is the chance for us to find out even more about you, and to gain a deeper understanding of the competencies you have. We have embraced this new virtual requirement, we can be more efficient for our candidates, reduce the travel costs and time that is necessary when attending an in-person interview Feeling nervous about this step? Don’t be! We haven’t lost the face to face element, the recruiter will be there in person to talk to you via Microsoft Teams. We have plenty of resources to help you give your best, such as our guide to job interviews. More importantly, it’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about our careers and life at Enterprise.
The final stage is to visit one of our branches for an interview with the Branch and Area Manager. Not many employers give candidates such a unique opportunity for you to meet some of our branch colleagues, and to experience what life at Enterprise Rent-A-Car is really like, so if you want to know more about what will happen on the day, read what to expect from our branch interviews.
Hopefully, you can see that our Talent Acquisition team is accessible to you, they want to connect with you, answer your questions about the role, the process and the adjustments that we can make, if necessary, and ultimately breakdown any barriers or overcome any anxieties that you may have about the recruitment process.
Now that you know what to expect start by applying for one of our placement or graduate management schemes.
