I began my journey within the Enterprise Business Support Function as a Home Based Reservations Agent, and after 18 months was promoted on the Enterprise Business Support Management Trainee role. The move allowed me to continue to work within a department I enjoyed and gave me a great sense of accomplishment. But this is only the beginning of a long career with Enterprise.
I felt a great sense of accomplishment on making this move – however, I know my journey is just beginning. Each day brings new challenges that I must try to meet. The knowledge I gained in my previous role as a Reservations Sales Representative has barely begun to prepare me for this new adventure. It’s the knowledge gained from fellow colleagues and managers alike that will guide me on this new career path.
My new role involves a tricky balancing act of providing great service to our customers, on the one hand, and great leadership to our employees on the other. The days are a lot busier but absolutely fly by. Juggling between answering calls from customers and helping colleagues can be overwhelming at times but everyone realises that we are in this together. That is one of the main reasons why a career at Enterprise is so rewarding.
I am now in charge of some aspects of training and development amongst my colleagues. There is nothing more exhilarating than coaching and guiding a co-worker to achieve improved results. I’m also relishing the challenge of looking after a team, managing their day and leading them to achieve goals.
Throughout each day I feel like a sponge as I have to try to absorb as much information as I can. There is a world of information out there to be used to further our company and have a rewarding career. Senior management, fellow management trainees, and colleagues are always just a phone call or message away and are willing to assist when needed.
It can’t be stressed enough how much of focus there is on team atmosphere at Enterprise. Whether working from home, as most of us do, or in the office, there is never a feeling of not being involved with the team. Our “water cooler” may be Lync, but we can still have fun and get to know each other while we are working to help our customers the best we can.
My journey as a Management Trainee has just begun. I look forward to work every day. The challenges don’t seem so insurmountable with the amount of support shown from people who genuinely care about each other’s success.
